Purple Patch for HQ Trainers
9 June 2010, Newmarket, UK – Newmarket trainers have been enjoying a purple patch in recent weeks, culminating at the Investec Derby Festival last weekend where they won 9 out of the 14 races. Wins included the Investec Oaks and the Investec Derby, which contributed to a total winning prize fund of £1,178,710 for their owners.
Mark Tompkins, Chairman of Newmarket Trainers' Federation, said:

“In the two week period from 24 May to 6 June Newmarket trainers notched up 97 wins from 35 different yards, taking the year to date total to 614, 14 ahead of last year despite slightly fewer horses using the gallops. Great credit goes to the trainers and their staff, and to all our hard-working staff out on the Heath."
Newmarket Produces It's 1000th Winner since January 1st 2008
On Saturday 2nd August Jeremy Noseda notched up Newmarket’s 1000th winner since 1st January, when WITHOUT PREJUDICE won the Irishracingshares Maiden Stakes at Lingfield at 7.50 pm, ridden by Shane Kelly. At close of play on Sunday 3rd August Newmarket has notched up 1004 winners as compared with 875 for the same period in 2007.
